Rambling Around the Intertubes
I think this is insanely beautiful, and am quite fond of the Charisma Blue.
One of my new favorite sites is The Art of Manliness and I’m currently reading Man Killer 3. I really like the premise behind it and I read it for the same reasons I occasionally read feminist sites–let’s get rid of the weirdness around gender and stop making men feel bad that they’re not “manorexic” or “players” and stop making women feel bad that they’re not “perfect” like supermodels or porn stars. Let’s empower each other to be comfortable with who we are and realize there’s more to us than looks.
I love The Manolo. It makes me giggle on the inside, much like Karl Lagerfeld’s Guide to Life does. I will never be a fashionista (thank goodness!) but I like to pretend I know the insanity involved in fashion, having studied it for a great many years. I’m fully aware that some people won’t “get” either of those sites, but I love them. Check out Manolo For the Brides and Manolo For the Big Girl. They’re really inspiring, whether or not you’re a bride or a big girl.
Cake Wrecks also makes me giggle and provides a really good step-by-step guide of what to do wrong when decorating cakes. This way, I can almost guarantee that I will never make a wreck…almost.
This guy isn’t around very much lately, but his blog is delightful and the pictures are magical. It reminds me of being a little girl with a vivid imagination and I really want to install a tiny door when I have a house. We can all use a little magic and delight in this life, can’t we?
I will never be able to afford or justify these shoes, but the craftsmanship and artistry are really really cool.
Summerset puts my creativity and talent to shame. I can only dream of doing what she does.
In other news, it’s jeans day at work, which means I’m wearing my lovely Gap jeans and a long-sleeved t-shirt and not a speck of makeup. Somehow, I don’t feel weird about it at all. Tonight I’m going to the reception of a girl we used to babysit and I am so happy for her that it doesn’t even seem weird that she’s a grown up. Then I’ll come home and cut out a couple of patterns while hanging out with my sister (one hopes) and gear up for Saturday, which promises to be busy. I also have to find time in there to practice the organ, pound out the new songs I’m learning for voice, sew, and exchange a dress that doesn’t fit for pants that do.
It’s going to be a good weekend!
