A lot to live up to
Saturday, August 29th, 2009Because I have Wedding Brain (1 down, 2 to go so far this year!) and Baby Brain (my brother and sister-in-law are expecting their 4th child and 3rd girl), I’ve been thinking a lot about names. Things like deciding whether or not I’ll change/hyphenate/add onto my name (it varies with my mood), spending HOURS on Google trying to find inspiration for my non-existent wedding and the dress for which I have 75% of the component parts, planning a baby afghan for a high school friend finally having a baby after 3 miscarriages, vacillating on bridesmaids, debating whether wedding colors are pointless, coming up with names for my non-existent children…these things occupy my time and brain in often disconcerting ways.
So I notice names and pay attention to other people’s weddings (doing my level best to keep any unkind criticism to myself) and today, I “met” someone with a name that went something like this: Maria Concepcion de la Sagrada Corazon de Jesus Gutierrez. Quite a name to live up to.
I hope I’ll live up to my name.
